World Kendo Championship is held once in three years starting 1970.
Each time, for the history of the championship, the winners are Japan’s representatives (both among men and women).
The same trend is seen in team’s competitions (except World Championship 2006 when men’s team of South Korea got the victory).
The highest number of countries that took part in World Kendo Championship is 44 (Taiwan, 2006)
